Golf carts on the road — what are the actual rules here?

In our 55+ community everyone runs carts to the store and the mailbox, but I've seen them on the busier roads too. What's actually legal in the city limits before someone gets hurt?

    Short version: carts are only legal on roads posted 30mph or under, daytime unless it's equipped/registered as an LSV, and you need a valid license. The city has a flyer on it.

    Thank you for posting this. The number of carts crossing Gall at dusk with no lights scares me every time.
